Loss | A Mixed Media Series on Grief

I created this 12 part series as a part of a month long artist residency in September 2023. Each piece represents a different aspect of my experience as a child, a parent, and this ever changing relationship with my own mom. This series explores my grief process after losing my mom to Alzheimer’s disease. She had a tremendous influence on my creative journey and every aspect of my life. The materials used were vintage book pages with mixed media, including gesso, ink, pencil, paper collage, and fabric. I focused on a limited color palette inspired by my mom’s favorite colors and patterns.
