Vashti was the Queen of Persia, the wife of King Xerxes. Her name, meaning “beautiful woman,” describes her well, as she was known for her great beauty. She is most famous for her act of defiance that got her kicked out of the kingdom, setting the stage for Queen Esther to enter. Her brave actions paved the way for Queen Esther to become the next queen and rescue the Israelite people. (Esther 1-4)
