Esther, a young Jewish orphan also called Hadassah, rose to the highest place in the court of a foreign land. Mordecai, her older cousin, adopted and raised her while he sat as an advisor in the court of King Xerxes.

Esther concealed her identity as a Jew and leveraged her position of Queen to bravely rescue her people from death.

The name Esther means “Star.”
