Separation is one of my series called Loss. This is one of the most challenging stages of life, going from being dependent on parents or guardians, to being self sufficient. The relationship changes with this transition, creating some distance and separation. Often this stage is more difficult for the parent than for the child. I didn’t recognize the pain of this stage until I began to experience it with my own children.
