“Gathering what was Lost”

Acrylic and mixed media on canvas

30 × 40 inches

Gathering what was Lost was a dive into abstraction that allowed me to reflect on our current state of chaos, seeking to find beauty and order in it. The droplet shapes remind me of tears and waterdrops, both of which have cleansing properties. The layers of collage paper are selected from a 1978 encyclopedia, contrasting historic world events with our current day and age.

As I created this piece, I found myself reflecting on the heaviness of the world—the constant news, the division, destruction, and loss all around us. In the midst of that chaos, I wanted to create something that could hold beauty, something that offered a moment of calm while processing it all.
